FOOD ON CAMPUS

If you are a foodie and love food as much as I do, you will appreciate the wide variety of places to eat or just have a cup of tea/coffee on the campus.

First one is lovely fish&chips. In my opinion, the best on campus from Gulbenkian. They make really nice food and you can choose from big portions like this one or small like a soup of the day.

Next place is Origins. They mainly focus on tex-mex cuisine. So if you have cravings for spicy fajitas or a nice burger. Origins is a place to be!

Pulled pork burger in Dolce Vita. Personally, my top favourite place to eat overall. They recently changed their menu and it is definitely worth a visit. (My beloved dish is Oven-roasted tilapia.)

Rutherford dining hall is a traditional cafeteria-style outlet. Serving breakfasts, lunch and dinners. Cheap and a lot to choose from.

Library Cafe is a life saver when you need a quick shot of caffeine, something sweet or a sandwich. Keeps us going during the long days in the library.

There are also special occasions during which you can get your hands on some lovely food. For example, during the last year Worldfest.

I am also more than pleased that the food revolution finally arrived to our uni. The various food stalls have become a distinctive addition to our diverse student life. I just love them!

This is a serious love for thai food!

Well, don't this lovely food just make sometimes tough student life so much better?

UNI LIFE NEVER GETS BORING

Life at uni never gets boring. Not only because of all the work and assignments but also different events and celebrations. The last two weeks were packed with so many things going on.

First one, at the end of October, was Halloween. In my country, there is not a huge Halloween tradition so since I came to the UK, it is always exciting for me to see how it's been celebrated here.
I think many British people never miss a chance to dress up and Halloween is not an exception. Perfect chance to paint your face, put something crazy on and go out!

The other event was Bonfire Night, in the UK mainly called Guy Fawkes Night. If you are interested in history, you can read more about the story behind this celebration here.
Basically these days, many people gather outside, watch the fireworks and eat special treats such as candy apple.

Last but not least event was the Employability Week. This is a great tradition that takes place in November. There are different workshops, presentations and sessions taking place all over the campus during the whole week.
The main idea is to introduce various options for students regarding their employability, gaining experience, work placements etc.
The workshops can be about gaining useful skills, how to write CVs, how to look for internships and much much more.

Employability week is a great chance for us students to broaden our horizons and gain useful information that can be very helpful in the future and during our study. If you want to check more, you can do so here

I went to different workshop and also the Careers Fair where current students and recent graduates can meet with over 100 employers offering graduate vacancies and/or work experience opportunities within their organisations. This is a brilliant event, usually packed with many people. It is a perfect opportunity for us, because we can directly talk to the employers, take leaflets and sign up with them to receive further info.

I told you, life never gets boring at uni!

BACK TO UNI!

After long summer holidays, we all are back to university.
After the crazy freshers week last week, things are slowly getting back to normal. That mostly means lectures, seminar, library and all over again until Christmas.

This year is very special for the University of Kent because it marks its 50th anniversary. There has been a lot of different celebrations and on the 1st of October a big opening ceremony is taking place on the campus.
There is even a large clock counting down towards the anniversary date.

Among all the celebration you can also have a ride on this cool Kent Eye that should be on the campus until the half of October. This sounds like the best way to start a successful academic year, doesn't it.

If you have any question about university, student life or some general stuff, please, let me know in the comments below.

THE END IS NIGH!

The Summer Term which is in the name of exams and stress is slowly coming to an end.

Examination period is always the most hectic and stressful time of the year. But the tougher it is, the sweeter the freedom waiting afterwards.

Have a lovely Summer guys! xxx

WORLDFEST

On Thursday, we had the Worldfest event with a lot of good food, dancing and life music just outside the library, so we left our essays for a while and popped in to have a look (and grab a bite). The festival was taking place the whole last week, celebrating the diversity and openness of our university.

Apart from watching some salsa moves and pinning Czech on the world map, I had some lovely chicken&beef barbecue and veg with pita. Love my uni!
